In addition to money and material items, we need people to volunteer specialized services such as dentists to offer free dental services; computer technicians to upgrade and build new systems; fundraisers to secure donations; optometrists to offer free eye care; exercise trainers; instructors and tutors for GED preparation; psychologists to offer free assessments; nutritionists to offer free health/nutrition counseling and group facilitators.

Individuals with knowledge, skills, time, and - most importantly, heart - help Sunshine Mission to accomplish the variety of tasks necessary to the operation of our business while holding the administrative budget to the absolute minimum. Other volunteers can provide a range of services from fashion and make-up consultations to resume writing, from legal counseling to social events, and more. Such gifts of time and expertise can help each woman confront and remove barriers that threaten her transition or, at the very least, provide the opportunity for a little relaxation and fun along the way. Our volunteers have been students, lawyers, nurses, housewives, sorority members, grandmothers, and more. Their most defining characteristics have been a willingness to help and the commitment to see a project through to completion.

Some of the services provided to the residents by volunteers are:

1. Exercise, dance, yoga, movement and performance classes that can improve physical condition and lead to a blossoming of self-esteem.
2. Assistance with the preparation of resumes and the development of job search strategies.
3. Seminars in interview techniques.
4. Regular part-time help answering telephones and greeting visitors at the agency's reception desk.
5. Seminars in hair, cosmetics, and attire appropriate to the workplace.
